Breath.

How can such a simple, unassuming practice that happens automatically every few seconds be such a powerful ally in changing our body, our mind, our emotions, and more?

I'm sure you've experienced it.

You've noticed how your breath quickens and seems to be bursting out of your chest when you're in a panic moment.

Or you've noticed that deep belly sigh that can happen when you finally relax after a long, exhausting day.

Breath is both an indicator of how we are in a moment, and also a tool we can work with to CHANGE how we are in that moment.

When we intentionally, strategically work with deepening and slowing our breathing, or changing the breathing patterns, or breathing through nose or mouth or even quickening our breath for periods of time, we have access to far more than just our lungs.

According to Pause breathwork practitioner Liz Harris, some of these intentional breathing patterns can actually be harnessed to move beyond our conscious mind to access our subconscious in a safely held way, especially when we repeat breathing patterns for more than eight minutes straight.

This intentional breathwork practice has been profoundly supportive in her recovery from disordered eating patterns and restoring a healthier body image.

Which is something probably most of us could use some support with.

Listen in to learn:

  • how breathwork helped Liz go from disconnected to loving her body
  • what intentional breathwork practice can look like
  • ways breathwork can help us release stuck emotions and trauma
  • why having a facilitator holding space can be a key to pattern change
